I got one for ya ,how about a model 10-6 ser # 3582x,4 inch bull barrel ,ok ya guys ready for this cause heres where I get weird looks, its chambered in 357 magnum, you read that correctly 357 mag lol,I know I know I`ve heard it a hundred times before that smith &Wesson didn't make the model 10 in 357,well I have one,it belonged to my dad who carried it when he was a policeman, he told me a story that when smith was introducing the model 686 a sales rep stopped by the pd and was trying to sell the 686 to some of the officers, my dad asked the guy if he had ever seen a model 10 in 357, the guy said no and that he had heard of it and would like to see one, well my dad unholstered unloaded and handed it to the guy,the guy drooled all over it and offered my dad his pick of any 686 he had in the show case and $500 cash, back then that was a pretty good offer but my dad refused took the gun back reloaded and reholstered it. Is that accurate? i realize it wouldn't have much of a collectors value with the alterations, but what would you guys put as a ballpark value on it? (I have $250 in it and was offered $300 by a guy at the range the day after i got it.) 38 S&W cartridges.įrom what i have seen on this thread i would guess it was a new police model, and based on the serial number likely the late 30's. at some point the cylinder was altered, it fits. also the trigger and hammer are nickel plated. the nickel is about 80%, but i suspect it was redone because the "Smith & Wesson" on the side of the barrel has less of an imprint with the "S" and the "N" than it does in the middle. I was told when i got the firearm that it was bought used in texas in 1956, and had sat in a drawer since then. when the grips are on the gun there are 3 screws visible on the right side, one screw is hidden by the grips and there is another one at the front of the trigger guard. but does not say made in usa or have any other markings on the frame. The frame has the S&W emblem on the right side between the top of the grips and the cylinder (it is about an inch tall). the barrel is 5 inches long (from the cylinder), and has the half moon sight on the front. CTG" on the other and "Smith & Wesson Springfield Mass. The barrel says "Smith & Wesson" on one side "38 S. It is a nickel plated k frame revolver sn#8536XX that # is on the cylinder under the barrel and on the bottom of the grips. Hey guys, let me run a brief description of my S&W by you:
